Terms of service.
These terms apply when you download or use any app published by Scholar SIA, and when you use this website. In short: you get a personal licence to use our apps, what you create in them stays yours, purchases run through the App Store or Google Play, and your rights as a consumer under EU and Latvian law always apply. Last updated 28 October 2026.
The agreement.
These terms are an agreement between you and Scholar SIA (registration number 40203595867), trading as Scholar Baltic, based in Rīga, Latvia. Contact us at support@scholarbaltic.com or +371 22131224.
By downloading, installing or using one of our apps, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Some apps have additional terms for particular features, shown in the app. Those add to these terms, and where they conflict, the app-specific terms apply to that app.
What you may do with our apps.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use our apps on devices you own or control, for your own use, in line with the usage rules of the store you got the app from.
You may not:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or sublicense an app;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble an app, except where the law allows it regardless of this restriction;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notices;
- use an app to break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or harm, overload or try to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users;
- access an app or its services by automated means, unless the app offers a way to do so.
If an app has accounts.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or older where an app says so. Give accurate details, keep your login secure, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app.
What you create is yours.
You keep all rights to what you create or store in our apps.
- If an app keeps your content only on your device, we never receive it. Keeping your own backups is up to you, because we cannot recover data we never had.
- If an app stores your content online, you give us a limited licence to store, process and display it only to provide that feature to you. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
- We do not use your content to train AI models.
- You are responsible for having the right to any content you add, and for making sure it is lawful.
Payments and subscriptions.
- Paid apps, in-app purchases and subscriptions are sold through the App Store or Google Play. Their terms govern payment, billing and refunds, and we never see your payment details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- A free trial turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends.
- If a subscription price changes, the store tells you in advance, as its rules require.
- Refunds for store purchases are handled by Apple or Google, so please request them there. We cannot issue them directly.
- Under EU law you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content supplied straight away, that right ends once the download or access starts, if you agreed to this when buying. Apple's and Google's own refund processes may be more generous.
Changes to the apps.
We release updates to fix bugs, improve security and change features. Some updates may be required to keep using an app. Apps depend on your device's operating system, so we cannot guarantee that every app works on every device or system version.
We may discontinue an app or a feature. Where it affects something you paid for, we will give reasonable notice where we can and respect your consumer rights.
Third parties.
Our apps may link to or rely on services run by others, such as app stores, sign in with Apple or Google, maps, or AI services. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.
Our intellectual property.
Our apps, including their code, design, names and logos, belong to Scholar SIA or our licensors. Your licence gives you no other rights in them. Open-source components are used under their own licences. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely without owing you anything.
Warranty.
We build our apps carefully and aim for them to work as described. If you are a consumer, digital content you pay for must conform to what was described, and EU and Latvian law gives you remedies if it does not. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
Beyond those rights and anything we expressly promise, our apps are provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that an app will be uninterrupted or error-free. Unless an app says otherwise, information in it is general and is not medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.
Limits on our liability.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, for business losses (our apps are for personal use), or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability for all claims relating to an app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for that app in the 12 months before the claim, or €50.
Ending these terms.
You can stop at any time by deleting the app, and deleting your account and cancelling any subscription if you have them. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, with notice where that is reasonable. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue after that, such as ownership and liability, do.
If you got the app from Apple.
If you downloaded an app from Apple's App Store, these terms also include the following:
- These terms are between you and Scholar SIA only. Apple is not a party to them. Scholar SIA is solely responsible for the app and its content. Your use of the app must also comply with the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Your licence is limited to using the app on Apple-branded products you own or control, as the Usage Rules permit, including through Family Sharing.
- Scholar SIA is solely responsible for any maintenance and support of the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide maintenance or support services for it.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever for the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are Scholar SIA's responsibility, subject to these terms.
- Scholar SIA is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws. Apple is not responsible for these claims.
- If a third party claims that the app or your possession or use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Scholar SIA is solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim. Apple is not.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Questions, complaints or claims about the app go to Scholar SIA, Rīga, Latvia, at support@scholarbaltic.com or +371 22131224.
- You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the app.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
If you downloaded an app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your use of Google Play. Google is not a party to these terms.
Governing law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in the courts of your country or of Latvia.
If something goes wrong, please contact us first at support@scholarbaltic.com, and we will try to resolve it quickly. Consumers in Latvia can also contact the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (ptac.gov.lv).
The fine print.
- These terms, our privacy policy and any app-specific terms are the whole agreement between us about our apps.
- If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations to a company that takes over an app. Your rights under these terms are not affected. You may not transfer yours without our consent.
- These terms are published in English and Latvian. If the two versions differ, the meaning more favourable to you applies.
Updates to these terms.
We may update these terms as our apps or the law change. The date at the top shows when they were last revised. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or its release notes before it takes effect. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
